My classic lighting style is Rembrandt lighting. Rembrandt lighting started with the Dutch painter named Rembrandt. This is a style pf photography where you take of portrait of someones face with half being in full illumination and the other half being in a partial shadow. There should be a triangle under the eye on the shadowed eye no wider than the eye and no longer than the nose. This helps bring a dramatic effect to the photo with the light and shadows. The model should be facing the one light source and should be 5 feet from the model at a 45 degrees angle. With one light source an on camera flash won't work and you have to make sure it doesn't interfere with the main light. This is mostly used to bring a dramatic effect by mixing light and shadows.
